Properties of Shapes

Students will design and make a spinner game with a set of accompanying question cards.

Introduction Video

  • Aim

    Students will design and make a set of 2D and 3D shapes in order to practically apply their understanding of angles and dimensions. They will develop their use of mathematical language to explore and explain properties of shapes and solve problems relating to geometry.

  • Success Criteria

    Students will be able to identify and make a variety of 2D and 3D shapes by selecting and using mathematical equipment and language to help them. They will be able to solve problems related to geometry and evaluate and justify design decisions made in relation to their spinner.

  • Prior Knowledge

    Students will benefit from previous experience in identifying and classifying geometric shapes and lines of symmetry, and have a basic understanding of acute, obtuse and right angles.
