Bird Feeder

Living things and their habitats

Students will design and make a mould for a seed cake, based on their understanding of a bird's environmental needs.

Introduction Video

  • Aim

Students will develop their understanding of local environments and which factors affect their ecosystem. They will investigate how different species grow and develop and will then make a bird seed cake based on their understanding of nutrition.

  • Success Criteria

They will be able to identify how they can make a positive contribution to local ecosystems. They will compare the life cycles of birds, mammals, amphibians and insects – asking pertinent questions and exploring the answers.

  • Prior Knowledge

Students will benefit from prior experience interpreting a variety of food chains: identifying producers, predators and prey.
